Jessica Moulden Wins both the Battle and the War in Victorian Stampede Series 16-5-08

There was simply no stopping ‘Miss’ Jessica Moulden during the final round of the Stallard Victorian Formula 500 Stampede Series on Saturday at Mid Western Speedway, Darlington, where she took out victory for the round and most importantly the series point standings.

In a day time race meeting, due to the Mid Western Speedway venue suffering from power surge in recent times, Moulden was in top form throughout the meeting and ended proceedings with a dominant victory in the feature race over a 20-lap distance.

For Moulden this was the perfect way to seal her fate in the Victorian Stampede Series point standings and it was her fourth round victory of the 2007/08 season.

Heading into the feature race Moulden was the highest point scorer and therefore started from pole position after she finished her three heat races with a third, a win, and a fourth place, and this was all achieved by starting at the tail of the field.

This was Moulden’s final appearance in what has been a sensational season, which has included victory in the Victorian Title, a top 6 performance in the Oval Express Series and the Australian Title, and now the Victorian Stampede Series overall honours.

“It has been a wonderful season, and it’s great to cap it [the season] off with a win,” expressed Moulden, who has taken out a total of six Formula 500 feature race wins this season.

“The Victorian Stampede Series was one of my goals for the season after I won the opening round, and during the middle stages of the season I failed to finish some of the feature races, but I managed to fight back and take out the series.”

Without the support of her team and sponsors, Moulden knows that none of her success would have been at all possible.

“I cannot thank them [sponsors and team] all enough for all their support, and I’m so grateful for all their support throughout the season and none of it would have been possible without their input,” she noted.
