Jessica Moulden Gets that Formula 500 Winning Feeling Back                                    9-4-08

In what was her fifth feature race victory of the 2007/08 season ‘Miss’ Jessica Moulden romped to victory lane at Blue Ribbon Speedway in Horsham on Saturday night during the seventh round of the Victorian Stampede Formula 500 Series.

Not since her success at the Victorian State Title at Laang Speedway back in late January had Moulden tasted the victory spoils in her home state of Victoria, but the 20-year-old was both pleased and relieved to get back into the winner’s circle.

“Winning does the world of good for your confidence, and it’s what you try and achieve each time you go out onto the track,” explained Moulden.

“Over the past couple of months I haven’t had the best of luck, and now I’ve got that winning feeling back, I would like to achieve it a few more times before the season comes to an end.”

Starting the 20-lap feature race from position four in the field, after placing seventh, fifth and first in her three heat races, Moulden made her way quickly into the podium running and by the mid race she had taken control of the lead.

Once out in front it was a position that Moulden didn’t relinquish all the way to the chequered flag.

“It was a tough feature race, as there were so many stoppages, and it was hard to build up any sort of momentum, once I got some momentum, a stoppage would occur, so that became frustrating at times, especially when you are holding down the lead,” commented Moulden.

Saturday night’s win has now moved Moulden into second place in the Victorian Stampede Series point standings after she came into the round in third place.

There is no rest for Moulden as her next event will be round eight of the Victorian Stampede Series, at Western Speedway (Hamilton, VIC) this Saturday night (April 12).
