‘Miss’
Jessica Moulden continued her sensational form on Saturday
night at Laang Speedway when she scored her third feature
race victory of the 2007/08 season as she walked away
with the Victorian Formula 500 State Title.
So
far this season it seems that there is no stopping the
in-form Moulden, as she raced to the Victorian State
Title victory, and in the process she became the very
first female to claim a Formula 500 State Title win
anywhere in Australia.
Heading
into the feature race Moulden started from outside of
the second row, and was able to take full advantage
of the top three drivers when, current Australian Champion
Ben McLeod, Wayne Moller and Steve Caunt, were forced
out in controversial incidents without a lap completed
in two separate incidents.
“There
was plenty of action going on at the beginning of the
feature race and I just did my best to not get involved,
and this allowed me to move to the front row, and from
there I managed to take an early lead and go on to take
victory,” said a jubilant Moulden.

“Going
into the Title I was aiming for a top five finish, but
to walk away with the victory was something I wasn’t
expecting, and with that said I’m totally stoked with
the outcome.”
Moulden
continued on by saying that this win is not only special
to her and her family, but also to her engine builder
Stephen Bell from Jettco Developments and car constructor
Darren Mollenyoux from SWIFT.
“My
new car and engine package for this season is all brand
new and it’s wonderful to bring home the results for
both Belly [Stephen Bell] and Molly [Darren Mollenyoux],
as I owe a lot of my success this season to all their
efforts,” she credited.
“I
couldn’t be happier with my run so far this season,
as everything has fallen into place, and the results
are certainly gaining me a lot more respect, especially
from my fellow rivals, as I’m not treated as just a
novelty anymore.”
The
third round of the Victorian Stampede Series is o be
held on Saturday night, February 2 at Simpson Speedway
where Moulden is shooting for a hat trick of wins in
the series.
