Moulden Stampedes to another Formula 500 Victory                                             14-1-08

The strong form of Jessica Moulden continued on Saturday night (January 12) at Avalon Raceway when she took out back-to-back round victories in the Victorian Stampede Formula 500 Series.

There was no stopping Moulden as she led the entire feature race distance from start to finish and after only two rounds of the Victorian Stampede Series remains undefeated and holds down a comfortable lead in the series point standings.

“I hadn’t competed at Avalon since my Junior Sedan days [some three seasons ago], so it was good to make a triumphant return to the track and also continue to consolidate my lead in the Victorian Stampede Series,” Moulden expressed.

“My car was perfect throughout the night, in my heat races I had to work my way towards the front, because of the way the points for the series work I was required to start from the rear of the field.”

Starting her three heat races from the rear of the field saw Moulden finish sixth, third and second, and went into the feature race second on points behind Jason Pearson and therefore started the feature race from outside of the front row.

“I made a good start and kept my head down and worked hard,” she added.

Moulden is in fine touch in recent months, as she has not only dominated the opening two rounds of the Victorian Stampede Series, but scored a sixth place finish outright in the Oval Express Series.

The next event for Moulden is the Victorian State Title that is to be held this Saturday night (January 19) at Laang Speedway, and she is no doubt going to be a contender.

“Laang Speedway is a very good track for Formula 500s, so it’s going to be a very interesting event,” Moulden said.

“On a personal level I’m aiming for a top five finish, and if I could do that, then I will be thrilled.”
